Rented a Mercedes van that has been converted into a camper and drove out to Joshua Tree National Park. Winter is the perfect time to visit the desert! The sky was vast and full of stars, and the desert was wild and beautiful. I can’t wait to take guests there to see this very unique American scenery.

Another desert wilderness camping trip from San Diego could be a trip from Coronado to Mecca.
Start in the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, only 90 minutes (91 miles) driving from Coronado, CA to Ocotillo via I-8 W. If you continue 100 miles more to the north from Ocotillo via CA-86 N, you will reach the date palm farms of Mecca (CA 92254, USA) 🙂
